Cartoon Festival poster post

The poster for the 2026 Herne Bay Cartoon Festival. Feature a scene of cartoonists drawing on big boards at the live event and being bothered by AI servers and Robots. It all starts from Friday 31st July.

The Herne Bay Cartoon festival starts next week on Friday 31st of July. It’s a terrific weekend of cartoon exhibitions, workshops and activities which culminates in the Cartoonists live draw event on the Sunday 2nd of August at the Herne Bay Bandstand.

I’m always chuffed to be invited along, but doubly more so this time as I had the honour of being asked to come up with this year’s festival poster! More often than not the poster usually features the leading political figures of the day in some silly scenario related to that year’s theme, boats, beach etc.

But given the political turmoil and the fact that we didn’t even know who would be Prime Minister once the festival rolled around (even the other day just for a moment it looks like Farage might go!) we put all those ideas to one side. So, I concentrated on the actual event itself and tackled the evergreen cartoonists threat, AI! The subject that just keeps giving, or generating. Although some politicians still make cameos (Nigel literally does) on the big boards in the poster. I was quite pleased with how it looked in the new Private Eye and at least it was one way to make an appearance in the mag this week! 😉

Check out the Professional Cartoonists’ Organisation website for all the info about the festival itself and hopefully come along to meet a lot of hot cartoonists! Ok ‘hot’ as in we’ll be drawing in a heatwave and we aren’t used to being outdoors, never mind blazing sunshine.
