The Rejection Slip – MAD

I’ve been meaning to post this up for a while since Mad celebrated their 60th anniversary towards the end of 2012.

On a London trip recently I stumbled across a huge box of old Mad paperbacks, the kind you used to find at your uncle or older cousin’s house (Maybe in their little reading room… ahem).

Well obviously I couldn’t just leave ’em laying there so I bagged a couple. One I remember seeing as a kid was ‘Burning Mad‘ and reading it again this great gag by Tom Hudson struck a nerve.

Apparently inspired by an increasing number of rejection slips since his 50s heyday this was his only piece in Mad, appearing in July 1963.  More information about Tom Hudson here and here
